Getting your car repair sorted after a ding or a crash can be a complicated and stressful experience. That’s why we’ve put all our effort into making the auto repair process as easy as possible. We’ve answered some of the most common questions and concerns customers have about collision repair, mechanical repairs, and vehicle maintenance.

What To Do If You’ve Had An Accident Or Suffered Damage To Your Vehicle
The process is easy!
1. To make a claim – Contact your insurance company and nominate Straight-N-Paint as your preferred repairer.
2. If your vehicle is undriveable your insurance company will arrange for the vehicle to be towed to us. We will be in touch with you once your vehicle has arrived at Straight-N-Paint.
3. If your vehicle is drive-able contact us on 03 3134113 to arrange a 10-15-minute assessment of the damage or alternatively we will contact you once we receive your claim details from your insurer.
4. Your assessment will be done by one of our experienced Estimators at 46 Newnham St (under special circumstances they may be able to come to you).
5. You will be guided through the rest of the auto repair process from here. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
Do I have to take my vehicle to where my insurance company tells me to go for repairs?
No. It’s your choice who repairs your vehicle. Insurance companies often direct vehicles to their preferred auto repairers, however their recommendation may not be the best option for you and your vehicle.
Will you work with my insurance company?
Yes. We are approved and recommended by leading insurance companies, working closely with them to streamline your repair process. We have systems in place that streamline this process, and we strive to achieve the best results for you and your vehicle. As pre approved repairers for FMG, IAG – AMI, STATE, NZI, NAC, LUMLEY and their banking partners – ASB, BNZ, Westpac and the Cooperative bank, we are able to get on with the collision repair process without having to wait for additional approval from the insurer, speeding up the process. We are also Rangiora’s only approved and recommended repairers for: AA, Vero, AMP Insurance, QBE, Toyota Insurance, Mazda Insurance, Tower Insurance, TradeMe Insurance, Sureplan, FENZ.
Can you help me with my claim?
Yes. We understand that dealing with insurance can be overwhelming. That’s why we offer support and guidance every step of the way. Whether you have questions about making a claim, understanding your cover, or what to expect during repairs, we’re here to provide the clarity and assistance you need. Your peace of mind is important to us, and we’re committed to making the process as smooth as possible for you.
When do I pay my excess or the cost of repairs?
In most cases you will pay your excess to us once repairs are complete and before or on collection of your vehicle. You can make your payment online or in our office.
Do you do private work?
Yes. We welcome private work. From minor scuffs to major smash damage and compliance work, we’ll take care of it all!
Do you use genuine parts?
Yes, we use genuine parts.
Do your repairs come with a guarantee?
Yes. All our repairs come with a guarantee for the lifetime of the vehicle. For extra peace of mind, you can be assured that we are audited and affiliated members of the Collision Repair Association and the Motor Trade Association.
How long do repairs take?
Repair times can vary based on a few factors, but we’ll provide you with an estimated timeline on assessment. If anything changes, we will keep you updated throughout the process.
Do you have loan cars available?
Yes. We have over 30 loan cars available, including the latest model cars and a van for your convenience.
If I am unable to bring my car in, are you able to come to me to assess it and collect it and drop it off when it comes to repair time?
Under special circumstances and if you live locally and are unable to bring your car to us, we can come to you to assess the damage and collect it and drop it off at repair time – (Conditions apply. Please talk to one of our friendly team members to find out more).
How will you communicate with me about my repairs?
We use the latest workshop body shop management system which enables us to keep in touch with you via phone, text or email. You can let us know your preferred option.
Will you clean my car after it has been repaired?
Your car will be washed, vacuumed and lightly groomed once repairs are complete. If you would like a more detailed groom, this can be arranged for a fee.
